EU Stablecoin Regs Criticized by Circle's EU Policy Director

Circle's EU Policy Director has spoken out about the shortcomings in the regulation of stablecoins under the MiCA proposal, stating that there are significant gaps in oversight and a need for an external token recognition mechanism.

The MiCA (Markets in Crypto-Assets) regulation aims to bring greater transparency and accountability to the European crypto market, but Circle's EU Policy Director believes that it falls short when it comes to stablecoins.

In particular, the director pointed out that the current proposal does not address the issue of external tokens, which are a critical component of many stablecoin ecosystems.
