Europe's Banks Pour Billions into Crypto Infrastructure Amid Regulatory Clarity
European and UK financial institutions are significantly increasing their investment in cryptocurrency infrastructure as regulatory frameworks become more defined, according to a new survey by Fireblocks. The survey polled around 600 executives at financial institutions across Europe and reveals a growing institutional appetite for digital assets.
The EU's MiCA regulation has provided legal clarity for issuers and service providers, encouraging institutional participation and reducing uncertainty. In contrast, UK institutions are actively pursuing the issuance of their own stablecoins due to the still-developing regulatory framework in the country.
Most executives surveyed expect that crypto regulation will expand adoption, signaling a shift from cautious observation to active participation. The findings underscore a broader trend: as legal frameworks solidify, traditional financial players are moving from pilot projects to substantial investments in digital asset infrastructure.
