The recent collapse of BitMEX and BitMart has sparked speculation about whether such crashes could trigger the next crypto bull cycle or renewed market slump.

Market analyst Crypto Rover pointed out that Binance founder CZ's reaction to people thinking that exchanges' downfall could mark the beginning of a new booming market is worth noting.

BitMEX announced its shutdown last Thursday, and three days later, BitMart revealed it was winding down its crypto business. BitMart advised customers to terminate all their crypto trading activities by August 26 and will cease all business on January 31, 2027.

Crypto leaders have shared their thoughts on recent centralized crypto platforms shutting operations. Tom Lee attributed recent exchange shutdowns to the ongoing market downturn, stating that such events typically occur when crypto asset prices are at their bottom.

CZ stated in his post that the current business closure circumstances could have been triggered by the bear market and described the situation as organized business closures with clients given time to cash out their assets. However, he warned that acquisitions of smaller crypto exchanges require a cautious approach due to potential hidden cybersecurity risks or security vulnerabilities.
