Exchange Shutdowns May Signal End of Bear Market
BitMEX and BitMart are two of the most well-known cryptocurrency exchanges that have recently announced they will cease operations. BitMEX, which has been in operation since 2014, is shutting down on September 23rd due to what it calls an 'unfavorable market environment.' New account registrations on BitMart have already been disabled, and trading services on the platform will be discontinued by August 26th.
The shutdowns of these exchanges may seem like a negative development for the cryptocurrency market, but some analysts believe that this could actually mark the cycle's bottom. X user Mister Crypto noted that every bear market in the past has ended with the demise of a big exchange, and BitMEX 'is dying now,' which could signal a new bull run.
Ran Neuner also weighed in on the situation, saying that the market is consolidating and the fittest exchanges will survive. He believes that the next phase of the cycle will be dominated by licensed exchanges and institutional capital.
