Exchanges Rush to Tokenise Traditional Assets Amid Intensifying Competition
Crypto exchanges are broadening their product offerings in response to increasing competition from decentralised platforms and traditional brokerages.
The market capitalisation of tokenised traditional assets listed on six leading cryptocurrency exchanges grew almost fivefold since January 2025, reaching US$6.6 billion by June 2026.
This expansion includes tokenised exposure to US equities, commodities, precious metals, global indexes, and foreign exchange markets.
US stock perpetual futures have taken the lead in trading volume and open interest, with investor demand centred on semiconductor companies and anticipated IPOs.
