Fairshake Slams Door on Sherrod Brown with $30 Million Ohio Play
Crypto-focused political action committee Fairshake has committed $30 million to an Ohio Senate race against former Senator Sherrod Brown, just days after the Senate failed to pass sweeping digital asset legislation.
The move is Fairshake's most aggressive effort yet ahead of the November midterms. Brown, who previously chaired the Senate Banking Committee, had called for a crackdown on using cryptocurrency to fund terrorism and evade sanctions.
Fairshake has been a major player in the 2024 elections, spending millions through super PACs to influence outcomes. The committee backed Republican Bernie Moreno in Ohio, who defeated Brown last time around.
The Senate's failure to pass the Clarity Act, which would have set a regulatory framework for the industry at the federal level, may have sparked Fairshake's latest move. Democrats opposed the bill due to concerns that it would allow President Donald Trump to profit personally from cryptocurrency.
