Fairshake to Spend $6 Million Backing Six US House Candidates
Fairshake, a crypto-backed political action committee, has unveiled plans to spend $6 million supporting six US House candidates ahead of the 2026 midterm elections. The initial allocations will provide $1 million each to three Democrats and three Republicans, all of whom previously voted for the CLARITY Act, a bill aimed at establishing a federal framework for digital asset markets.
The selected candidates include Representatives Janelle Bynum (Oregon), Derek Tran (California), and Steven Horsford (Nevada) for the Democrats, and Representatives French Hill (Arkansas), Bill Huizenga (Michigan), and Bryan Steil (Wisconsin) for the Republicans. Fairshake's spokesperson, Geoff Vetter, emphasized that the organization focuses on candidates' positions on cryptocurrency policy, backing pro-crypto advocates across party lines.
Beyond these six, Fairshake has identified 32 incumbents it plans to support, all of whom voted in favor of the CLARITY Act. The PAC is also preparing at least $30 million to oppose former Democratic Senator Sherrod Brown in Ohio’s Senate race. Brown is challenging Republican Senator Jon Husted in a special election to serve the remainder of JD Vance’s term through January 2029.
Fairshake, backed by Coinbase, Ripple Labs, and Andreessen Horowitz, has already spent millions in primaries and special elections, supporting a total of 57 candidates with a success rate of 93%. The organization aims to build the largest pro-crypto caucus in American history, with Vetter noting they have $122 million in cash available for the election cycle.
