Fake Flare Staking Site Steals $8.5 Million from South Korean Investors

A fake staking site, Fxrpntwork.com, stole $8.5 million from 71 investors in South Korea over just eight days last October.

The site posed as an official staking platform for Flare Network and its FXRP token, both legitimate projects, and promised monthly returns of 1.5% to 1.8% with guaranteed principal.

Investors were instructed to move their XRP off domestic South Korean exchanges, route it through overseas venues, and ultimately deposit it into wallets under the scammers' control.

The scam's infrastructure included a fake ecosystem of credibility, with false information planted across portal blogs, online news articles, and Wikipedia, and even YouTube videos featuring a paid stand-in to impersonate a project representative.
