Farage Quizzed Over £5m Crypto Donor Gift
Nigel Farage, leader of the Reform UK party, has been interviewed by the parliamentary commissioner for standards over an investigation into a £5 million gift from crypto billionaire Christopher Harborne.
The probe, which resumed after Farage won the Clacton by-election, centered on whether he should have declared the gift, which is worth more than the £300 threshold required by Commons rules.
Farage, who has insisted that the gift was not political, told the Sunday Times that he had been interviewed by Daniel Greenberg, the parliamentary commissioner for standards, for 30 minutes at the Palace of Westminster last month.
Reform UK received twin £36 million gifts from Harborne and Ben Delo, another crypto-billionaire, which reignited calls for a blanket cap on donations. Farage said he thought the reaction to the donations would be 'far worse' but instead received 'some grudging respect' for pulling off the coup.
