The FBI has officially attributed a massive $6 billion cryptocurrency hack on Binance to North Korea. The brazen attack, which involved the theft of digital assets, has drawn significant attention from U.S. law enforcement agencies.
In a statement released Saturday, the FBI confirmed that the hackers, identified as the TraderTraitor group, are converting the stolen assets primarily into Ethereum. The agency expects these assets to be further laundered through decentralized finance (DeFi) platforms and instant swap services as part of a broader money-laundering scheme.
The FBI, in collaboration with the U.S. Secret Service (USSS) and the IRS-Criminal Investigation (IRS-CI), is closely monitoring the situation. The agencies are working to trace the flow of the stolen funds and disrupt any further illicit activities.
