The UK's Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has opened its new crypto authorization process, marking a significant regulatory shift in the sector. This development brings the crypto industry closer to comprehensive financial regulation and stronger consumer safeguards.

The FCA said that the forthcoming framework will establish requirements covering consumer protection, asset safeguarding, market integrity, and financial resilience. As a result, firms operating in Britain will face clearer expectations under tighter oversight.

Companies planning to continue serving UK customers are required to submit applications by February 28, 2027. The new regulatory regime is set to take effect on October 25, 2027.

Firms seeking authorization must demonstrate that they satisfy the strict requirements, and submitting an application does not guarantee approval. Firms must meet specific standards, including consumer protection, asset safeguarding, market integrity, and financial resilience.
