Filipinos Get a Break on Overseas Transfer Fees
A new integration between Coins.ph and Tempo Blockchain aims to simplify international money transfers for Filipinos. The collaboration eliminates the need for users to hold separate tokens, such as Ether or Tron, solely for paying network fees.
Through native gas abstraction, Tether (USDT) and USD Coin (USDC) transfers can now cover their own network fees. This feature allows transactions processed through Tempo's payment lanes to reach finality in roughly 0.5 seconds, reducing the risk of unpredictable fee spikes during periods of market congestion.
Tempo was co-incubated by Stripe and Paradigm specifically to serve as dedicated infrastructure for global stablecoin payments. By utilizing purpose-built payment rails, Tempo isolates financial traffic from high-frequency trading or NFT minting on general-purpose blockchains.
The integration went live on August 9 at 2:00 PM PHT, enabling Coins.ph users with multi-chain deposit and withdrawal capabilities for USDT and USDC via Tempo's canonical tokens. Christine Lim, Global BD Director for Crypto at Coins.ph, noted that supporting Tempo ensures transferring value across borders feels 'as seamless as sending an instant message.'
