Finland Eyes Bitcoin Mining to Bolster Energy Grid
Finland is exploring the possibility of integrating Bitcoin mining operations into its national grid to maintain stability without relying on fossil-fuel-based power sources.
Daniel Batten, who has met with Finland's Minister of Economic Affairs to discuss the country's energy infrastructure approach, notes that gas peaker plants are being considered for purchase. However, he highlights how Bitcoin mining could provide an alternative solution.
Batten previously pointed out that Bitcoin mining helped Texans avoid a 4% increase in power bills by providing grid stability after Winter Storm Uri. He also noted that hydro power is now the main source of energy for Bitcoin mining, as shown in Cambridge research.
