Fintech Stocks Report Mixed Q2 Results
The second quarter of the earnings season has come to an end, and it's time to assess which financial technology stocks have shined. One area that's gaining traction is blockchain infrastructure, with companies like Coinbase at its forefront.
Despite regulatory scrutiny and resistance from traditional institutions, fintechs are poised for long-term growth as they expand financial services to underserved populations. However, the four financial technology stocks being tracked reported a slower Q2, with revenues missing analysts' consensus estimates by 0.7% while next quarter's revenue guidance was 0.9% below.
Among these companies, Coinbase (NASDAQ:COIN) had the weakest performance against analyst estimates and slowest revenue growth. The company reported $1.22 billion in revenues, down 18.5% year on year, which fell short of analysts' expectations by 5.9%. This is a disappointing quarter for Coinbase, with a significant miss of analysts' EBITDA estimates.
On the other hand, Robinhood (NASDAQ:HOOD) delivered the fastest revenue growth among its peers. The company reported $1.31 billion in revenues, up 32.3% year on year, outperforming analysts' expectations by 1.8%. This was a very strong quarter for Robinhood, with solid growth in users and a beat of analysts' EBITDA estimates.
Remitly (NASDAQ:RELY) also had a strong quarter, reporting $495.2 million in revenues, up 20.2% year on year. This result beat analysts' expectations by 1.8%, with an impressive beat of analysts' EBITDA estimates and full-year EBITDA guidance exceeding analysts' expectations.
