Firo and Zano Defy Regulatory Headwinds with Price Surge
Two of the most technically advanced privacy-focused cryptocurrencies on the market are drawing fresh attention: Firo (FIRO) and Zano (ZANO). Both have seen significant price gains in recent days, with FIRO surging over 12% in 24 hours. The surge has put both coins at the top of CoinGecko's trending list.
This renewed interest comes despite regulatory pressure on the privacy coin sector as a whole. FATF guidance on virtual assets and EU regulations such as MiCA have reduced the trading venues for these tokens, but have not suppressed on-chain adoption or developer activity.
Firo and Zano represent second-generation privacy coin architecture, moving beyond basic CoinJoin mixing toward cryptographic unlinkability and confidential amounts at the protocol level. Firo's flagship mechanism, Lelantus Spark, enables confidential transactions with hidden amounts and addresses while avoiding the trusted setup requirement that has historically plagued certain zero-knowledge systems.
Zano positions itself as an enterprise-grade confidential asset platform, built on ring signatures and stealth addresses. Its market capitalization is roughly $178 million, a notable position for a project that has never pursued a centralized exchange listing strategy.
