Flare Scales Up Confidential Computing Plans for Bitcoin Integration
Flare Networks CEO Hugo Philion is planning to scale the FAssets technology to Bitcoin through the wrapped FBTC token. This move aims to bring Flare into a programmable layer for isolated assets, despite the current industry slowdown, which Philion describes as 'the market sucks, but not forever.' The project's six-month roadmap with the XRP Ledger (XRPL) has already shown promising results, with FXRP issuance exceeding 150 million tokens.
Philion intends to bring the same model to Bitcoin through FBTC. The main argument for attracting large capital will be confidential computing technology, Flare Confidential Compute (FCC), based on trusted execution environments (TEEs). This technology addresses a fundamental problem in DeFi, which is the complete transparency of blockchains that discourages institutional investors.
FCC will allow funds to execute large transactions and take out loans while keeping commercial data hidden from competitors. Although Flare is fully funded and not at risk of shutting down, Philion is not promising an immediate surge in prices. The next six months will be devoted exclusively to deploying the code, and large players will need more time to audit the bridges.
