A major joint operation in Forest City, Johor, resulted in the arrest of 335 people, most of whom were Chinese nationals. The raid was conducted on July 15 and targeted two online scam syndicates that had been operating in the area.

The police chief, Ab Rahaman Arsad, stated that those detained comprised 309 Chinese nationals, 19 Indonesians, four Myanmar nationals, and three locals. The suspects ranged between 20 and 58 years of age.

The operation saw officers raiding 27 apartment units and five bungalows in Forest City, which were used as operation bases by the call centre scam rings. Police also seized 313 computers, 1,557 mobile phones, 17 laptops, and 10 modems during the raid.

Rahaman said the first syndicate comprised 279 suspects who allegedly carried out love and crypto scams. The second involved 56 suspects, 54 of whom were foreigners, who impersonated recruitment agents and offered fake crypto investments to victims.
