Fortitude Secures Priority Access to Next-Gen Zcash Mining Hardware
Fortitude Mining Holdings has taken a significant step in expanding its Zcash mining operations by signing a letter of intent with BITMAIN for priority access to next-generation mining hardware. The agreement includes a non-binding commitment to purchase up to $100 million worth of equipment, contingent on final terms and availability. Fortitude is required to place a $20 million refundable deposit, representing 20% of the potential order, which it plans to draw from its credit line.
The move aligns with Fortitude's strategy to bolster its Zcash mining capacity, following its previous order of 9,000 Antminer Z15 Pro machines. These units are expected to add 7.56 GSol/s to its current 4.7 GSol/s of Equihash hashrate. The company operates over 60 megawatts of power across seven sites in the U.S.
Fortitude's credit facility with Digital Currency Group (DCG) has been increased from $50 million to $70 million, with approximately $42.7 million still available. This expansion provides the company with the financial flexibility to pursue its mining ambitions. DCG spun out Fortitude from Foundry’s self-mining business in January 2025, focusing on a venture-mining model centered around Zcash.
The company's push comes amid a rise in Zcash prices, which traded above $1,370 on Tuesday. However, the non-binding nature of the agreement means Fortitude's final decision will depend on equipment availability and other factors.
