FTX Repayments Kick Off Amid Market Speculation

Share

The long-awaited distribution of FTX repayments to its creditors has begun on February 18. This initial payout targets smaller creditors, those with claims of $50,000 or less, who will receive their full due plus 9% annual interest from November 2022.

FTX confirmed that approximately $1.2 billion in total payouts will be disbursed to these 'convenience class' creditors. The payments could impact the cryptocurrency landscape if distributed in digital currencies.

Analyst Excavo suggests that these payouts might exert downward pressure on the market if recipients sell their crypto holdings. However, most funds are expected to be disbursed in cash, leaving open the question of how recipients will reinvest in the market.
