Garlinghouse: Making America Crypto Capital Now Within Reach
Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse reiterated his support for President Donald Trump's crypto agenda on September 3, stating that making America the 'crypto capital of the world' is now within reach. Garlinghouse made this comment after a White House meeting attended by financial and technology executives in August.
The gathering brought together federal regulators, including CFTC Chairman Michael S. Selig, with crypto platform leaders from Ripple, Coinbase, Kraken, Robinhood, Nasdaq, and Intercontinental Exchange. Trump stated that his administration had ended the 'war on crypto' and industry executives urged senators to advance legislation establishing federal rules for digital asset markets.
The CLARITY Act, which would establish a federal market structure for digital assets by giving the CFTC authority over spot markets for qualifying digital commodities while preserving SEC oversight of securities, is now in the Senate. Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) filed an August 8 cloture motion seeking to advance the bill.
