Genius Group Revives Bitcoin Strategy with Preferred Stock Raise
Genius Group is reviving its Bitcoin strategy after selling off its entire crypto reserve in April to pay down debt. The company plans to rebuild its Bitcoin treasury alongside an artificial intelligence (AI) treasury, with a combined target value of $1.6 billion by fiscal year 2031.
The NYSE-listed education company wants to grow its total assets to $2 billion over the same period. Genius Group will use Perpetual Preferred Securities as its main funding source for future treasury purchases, starting with an initial raise targeting $12.5 million under its $1.2 billion SEC-cleared shelf registration.
Genius Group CEO Roger James Hamilton said returns above the preferred dividend rate would add value for shareholders. The company plans to divide the proceeds between its Bitcoin and AI treasuries and a cash reserve, with the latter covering about 18 months of dividend payments.
