Glamsterdam Upgrade Warns of Potential Disruptions to Wallets and Gas Estimators
The Ethereum Foundation has issued a warning that the upcoming Glamsterdam upgrade could disrupt wallets and gas estimators relying on fixed gas assumptions.
Glamsterdam, set to deploy on Platåberget testnet on August 20, introduces several changes affecting Ethereum's execution and consensus layers. These include gas repricing, enshrined proposer-builder separation, and block-level access lists.
The upgrade will also add a separate state-gas dimension for operations that create new Ethereum state, which may cause problems for software built around fixed transaction-cost assumptions.
