Grayscale Advances Zcash ETF as DCG Mulls Record-Breaking ZEC Purchase
Grayscale has filed an amendment with the SEC to rename its Zcash Trust and list shares on NYSE Arca under the ticker symbol ZCSH. This move is part of the company's efforts to launch a Zcash exchange-traded fund (ETF). The filing marks progress towards Grayscale's goal of bringing a Zcash ETF to market.
The proposed listing would allow institutional investors and individual traders to buy and sell shares of the Zcash Trust on a regulated stock exchange. This increased accessibility could lead to greater adoption of the cryptocurrency among mainstream investors.
Grayscale also disclosed details about a June vulnerability in Zcash, known as the Orchard issue, while highlighting the benefits of the Ironwood upgrade. The upgrade retired the shielded pool and added protections against counterfeit tokens, supporting security and institutional access to Zcash.
DCG International Investments Ltd. is reportedly considering a nonbinding purchase of approximately 200,000 ZEC through the trust, valued at around $110 million at current prices. However, it remains unclear whether this investment will materialize or be scaled back.
