Grayscale, in partnership with investment platform Republic, has launched three specialized crypto funds with a lower entry barrier of just $2,500. These funds focus on decentralized finance (DeFi), artificial intelligence (AI), and blockchain data infrastructure, offering accredited investors exposure to these sectors without directly purchasing individual cryptocurrencies.
The DeFi portfolio includes projects related to lending, trading, and other blockchain-based financial services, while the AI strategy covers networks involved in decentralized computing. This move reflects Grayscale's effort to expand beyond traditional token-price exposure, as seen in its recent exploration of staking-related changes for Ethereum and Solana investment structures.
Despite the reduced minimum investment, the funds remain restricted to accredited investors under U.S. securities rules. Additionally, the holdings in these private investment products may be less liquid than publicly traded ETFs, and the underlying cryptocurrencies remain subject to volatility.
The partnership highlights how traditional asset managers are increasingly packaging specialized cryptocurrency themes for investors familiar with conventional investment products, making digital assets more accessible through managed vehicles.
