Grayscale Crypto ETF Expands Custody with Anchorage Digital
Grayscale CoinDesk Crypto 5 ETF (GDLC) has expanded its custody arrangements by adding Anchorage Digital Bank N.A. as an additional custodian, effective September 29, 2026. This amendment to the existing custody agreement allows Anchorage to hold a portion of the Fund’s digital assets, with Coinbase Custody Trust Company, LLC remaining as the primary custodian. The Fund Manager will determine how much of the assets are held at each custodian, though no specific amounts have been decided yet.
Anchorage is required to maintain insurance coverage, including commercial crime insurance or a fidelity bond, with limits of at least $100 million in aggregate. However, shareholders should be aware that this coverage may not be sufficient to protect against all potential losses involving the Fund’s assets.
The agreement also grants Anchorage the authority to manage certain support functions during a network fork, such as temporarily suspending services and deciding which branch of the forked protocol to support. Additionally, fees paid to Anchorage for its services are classified as Manager-paid expenses.
Anchorage will safeguard the private keys of the Fund’s digital assets using a hardware security module located in the United States. The company must, upon the Manager’s instruction, withdraw Fund Components to pay the Fund Manager’s Fee and Additional Fund Expenses.
