Grayscale Files to List Bitcoin Cash Trust on NYSE Arca
Grayscale filed an amended S-3 with the SEC to list its Bitcoin Cash Trust on NYSE Arca, and the market is reacting as if it's a done deal. The trust would trade under the same BCHG ticker, but the actual listing timing remains uncertain.
The filing comes after Grayscale successfully converted its Bitcoin Trust into a spot ETF in January 2024, following a court win that forced the SEC's hand on spot Bitcoin products. This time around, the pattern is familiar: update the registration, move it toward an exchange listing, and let traders price in institutional access before it actually exists.
Bitcoin Cash forked away from Bitcoin in 2017 after a fight over block size, leaving BCHG with trading premiums as high as 1,852% and discounts as steep as 59% to NAV between August 2020 and June 2026. An ETF structure would tighten that spread, making BCH easier to package.
Grayscale has run this play before, but the market's reaction is still based on sentiment rather than a listing. The SEC approved generic listing standards for commodity-based trust shares in September 2025, including products holding digital assets, but a registration statement still needs to become effective and exchange listing requirements need to be met.
