Grayscale Sees Bullish Signal in Zcash's Rising Market Share
Grayscale, a well-known player in the cryptocurrency space, has made some interesting comments about Zcash (ZEC). The company compared ZEC's market capitalization to Bitcoin's (BTC) and noted that it could increase its ratio even further. According to Grayscale, ZEC's market cap has risen from less than 0.1% of BTC's about a year ago to approximately 1.5% today.
This significant growth is attributed to the increasing demand for financial privacy in the digital age. As Zach Pandl, Research Head at Grayscale, points out, Zcash's focus on financial privacy sets it apart from other cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin. In an environment where transactions are becoming more traceable, the need for secure and private transactions is growing.
Pandl also drew parallels with past market trends, highlighting that ZEC's current market share of 1.5% is not unprecedented. He compared it to the market performance of other cryptocurrencies like XRP, Bitcoin Cash, Litecoin, and Dash in 2017 and 2018, which each reached more than 3% of BTC's market capitalization.
Gemini co-founder Tyler Winklevoss also weighed in on ZEC, noting that its popularity is reminiscent of the cryptocurrency market in 2019. However, he cautioned that ZEC has shown sharp volatility this year and recent price increases may not be sustainable.
