Grayscale Zcash ETF Prepares for Forward Share Split Amid Price Surge
Grayscale's Zcash ETF (ZCSH) is planning a forward share split to make its token more accessible to investors. The fund has filed with the US Securities and Exchange Commission to implement a 3-for-1 forward share split, which will be effective at the close of trading on September 28.
Under this plan, shareholders will receive two additional shares for each one they hold, resulting in a proportionate increase in the number of shares outstanding. This move is expected to decrease the price per share of the fund, making it more appealing to investors who may have been deterred by its high value.
Zcash's ZEC token has seen significant growth over the past year, increasing in value by about 2,800%. Its recent surge, which saw prices reach as high as $1,521, has been attributed to investment from Paradigm co-founder Matt Huang, who described Zcash as a 'private complement to Bitcoin' and backed its developer fund.
The forward share split is intended to address concerns that the token's price was too high for investors. By distributing shares more widely, Grayscale hopes to make it easier for new investors to participate in the market.
