Grayscale's Zcash ETF Sees Boost from DCG Seed Contribution Talks
Grayscale Investments is one step closer to launching its Zcash-focused investment vehicle after filing an amended registration statement with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
The filing reveals that parent company Digital Currency Group (DCG) is in talks to contribute 200,000 ZEC to the trust, which would help capitalize the product as it moves toward a potential exchange listing on NYSE Arca under the ticker symbol ZCSH.
Grayscale envisions continuous issuance of shares with periodic sales to investors, with share pricing determined by factors including the ZEC spot price and prevailing market prices on NYSE Arca. Coinbase will serve as the prime broker, while Coinbase Custody Trust Company will provide custody services for the underlying ZEC holdings.
The 200,000 ZEC figure represents a substantial commitment from DCG, which has been Grayscale's parent company throughout the firm's broader push to convert its suite of crypto trusts into exchange-traded products. The amended filing does not specify a settlement date or the exact terms attached to the potential ZEC transfer.
