Grok Surges as Leading Client for Agentic Traders on Coinbase

Coinbase's CEO Brian Armstrong said Grok has become the leading client for agentic traders on its platform. Agentic trading is a type of automated workflow that uses artificial intelligence systems to initiate actions and transactions with limited human oversight.

The comment was made in a post on X, where Armstrong also mentioned Coinbase's expansion of access for AI agents. In June, the exchange launched Coinbase for Agents, which allows AI agents to connect directly to Coinbase accounts and perform trading and payment-related tasks within established limits.

Coinbase describes agentic AI as software capable of initiating actions and transactions with limited human oversight, including managing wallets, executing smart contracts, and interacting with digital services. The exchange has also developed infrastructure aimed specifically at agentic finance.
