Gwangju Bank has successfully completed a proof-of-concept project using the Solana blockchain to issue digital meal vouchers for its employee cafeteria.

The pilot project, which was conducted in collaboration with the Solana Foundation and Nodeinfra, aimed to assess the practical application of blockchain technology in business operations and build related technical capabilities.

The entire process, from issuing digital wallets to issuing, using, transferring, and settling meal vouchers, was verified in a distributed-ledger environment.

Gwangju Bank said that the pilot gave it direct experience in designing and operating blockchain-based digital-asset services. Based on the results, it plans to review follow-up tasks and new services, including digital-asset payments.
