Hackers demand $400,000 in crypto after breaching ATB's website

Share

The website of the ATB grocery store chain fell victim to a cyberattack, with hackers displaying a ransom note on the homepage. The attackers claim to have stolen data belonging to nearly 8 million customers and are demanding a $400,000 ransom in cryptocurrency. The message, written in Russian, includes a countdown timer set for two hours, warning the company to pay before the deadline.

The hackers threaten to release the stolen data if their demands are not met. The message on the website reads, "ATB, we have your data, hurry before it reaches zero," followed by the ultimatum: "If you don’t pay, everything will be made publicly available."

As of now, ATB has not issued an official statement regarding the attack or the ransom demand. The company has yet to confirm whether the hackers' claims are accurate or if they are taking any steps to address the situation.
