Hamas Avoids Binance for Crypto Donations, Suggests Alternatives
The US Department of Justice has filed documents showing that the Al-Qassam Brigades, Hamas's military wing, instructed donors to avoid using Binance for cryptocurrency donations. The instructions, dated February 2025, suggested alternative platforms, including Bybit, OKX, Kast, Redotpay, and Trust Wallet.
The communications specified transferring USDT stablecoin via the TRC-20 network to a separate TRON wallet address. The documents provide insight into Hamas's operational tactics in attempting to circumvent financial surveillance.
Binance's chief compliance officer, Noah Perlman, stated that the advisory demonstrates the effectiveness of the platform's security measures. OKX representatives clarified that the wallet address mentioned had zero association with their exchange and was already identified as suspicious by their internal monitoring systems.
