Hashdex is set to liquidate its $14.7M DEFI bitcoin spot ETF on August 17, marking what would be the first U.S. shutdown of a fund of this type.

The move comes after three consecutive months of net outflows into bitcoin spot ETFs, pressured by the superior performance of AI investments.

Hashdex cited a comprehensive evaluation of the fund's assets under management volume, liquidity, operating costs, investor interest, and product positioning as reasons for its closure.

The fund was the smallest among U.S. bitcoin spot products, with $14.7 million in net assets compared to BlackRock's IBIT with $47.08 billion.
