Healthcare stocks took a hit in the afternoon session on Wednesday, September 9. The NYSE Healthcare Index declined by 0.3%, while the State Street Health Care Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLV) dipped 0.2%. The iShares Biotechnology ETF (IBB) fell 0.6%.

UnitedHealth (UNH), one of the major players in the healthcare sector, saw its shares drop by 1.8% after selling an interest in some of its Optum Health operations in Florida to TPG (TPG), as reported by Bloomberg. This move likely contributed to the decline in UnitedHealth's stock price.

Evommune's (EVMN) phase 2b trial for EVO756, a potential treatment for moderate-to-severe atopic dermatitis, failed to meet its primary and secondary endpoints in all doses studied. As a result, Evommune's shares plummeted by over 16%. Rezolute (RZLT) also experienced a decline, with its shares falling past 7%, as the company awaits feedback from the US Food and Drug Administration on its phase 3 study of ersodetug for hypoglycemia due to congenital hyperinsulinism.
