Hoskinson Clarifies Role in Cardano Amid Decentralized Governance Shift
Charles Hoskinson, the founder of Cardano, has clarified his role in the project amid growing criticism over slow adoption and a battered ADA price. In a recent social media post, Hoskinson emphasized that he is not accountable for Cardano's adoption and that his role is limited to running Input Output Global (IOG), a separate company that built much of Cardano's original codebase.
Hoskinson's statement comes as the Cardano community continues to grapple with the project's slow growth and declining ADA price, which has dropped 92% from its all-time high. The founder's response highlights the decentralized nature of the Cardano network, which has transitioned to community-elected representatives for protocol control and treasury management.
One notable example of the decentralized governance in action was the rejection of a 12.29 million ADA treasury request meant to fund an IOG-backed Bitcoin DeFi product. The proposal was rejected through on-chain voting, underscoring the community's autonomy and ability to block proposals connected to IOG itself.
Meanwhile, Hoskinson's marketing efforts for the Midnight (NIGHT) privacy network drove an 86% rally in the token, highlighting the founder's influence and the blurred lines between his role at IOG and his personal interests.
