Hoskinson Disputes CoinMarketCap's NIGHT ATH Claim
Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson has disputed CoinMarketCap's claim that NIGHT hit an all-time high (ATH) of $1.81. According to Hoskinson, the token never genuinely traded at that level, and treating it as the ATH gives a misleading picture of NIGHT's historical market performance. He argued that the $1.81 figure resulted from the initial price-discovery process, rather than sustained market trading, and no one bought the token at that price. This situation is similar to a hypothetical $2 trillion valuation reading for Zcash, Hoskinson claimed.
The discrepancy between CoinMarketCap and CoinGecko's ATH figures for NIGHT is significant. While CoinMarketCap records $1.81 as the ATH, CoinGecko shows a substantially lower peak of $0.1185. This difference affects how the token's historical performance is measured. Using the $1.81 figure makes NIGHT appear to have fallen more than 97% from its peak when trading around $0.05, while CoinGecko's $0.1185 ATH puts the token's decline at roughly 57%.
NIGHT has continued its recovery following the late-September rally, climbing above $0.05 and reaching a multi-month high of $0.05257 before retracing toward $0.05. CoinMarketCap ranked NIGHT as the strongest gainer among the top 100 cryptocurrencies over a 24-hour period, with gains exceeding 24%.
