Hoskinson Predicts Midnight Will Outperform Zcash in 2027

Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson is optimistic about the growth of Midnight (NIGHT), the native token of Cardano's privacy sidechain, in 2027. In a recent tweet, he stated that Midnight will be bigger than Zcash, citing several features that set it apart from existing privacy networks.

Hoskinson highlighted the benefits of Midnight's combination of private agents, decentralized finance (DeFi) kernel designed for major blockchains, selective disclosure, and zero-knowledge proofs (ZK), trusted execution environments (TEEs), and multiparty computation (MPC). He also praised Weiss Crypto's analysis suggesting that NIGHT could become one of the best-performing crypto investments over the next 24 months.

Midnight aims to expand beyond Zcash's privacy features by combining private transactions with programmable smart contracts. Hoskinson compared this development to Bitcoin's evolution into Ethereum, which introduced smart contracts and enabled developers to build decentralized applications on the blockchain.

While NIGHT has gained momentum in recent weeks, climbing 20.65% from $0.023 to $0.02775, its market performance lags behind Zcash, which has surged over 100% in 2026.
