Hoskinson Renews Call for Gemini to List Cardano's ADA
Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson has renewed his calls for the Gemini crypto exchange to list ADA, the native cryptocurrency of the Cardano network. Hoskinson's latest push came after Gemini co-founder Tyler Winklevoss celebrated the exchange's 11th anniversary on X (formerly Twitter), prompting Hoskinson to simply reply, List ADA.
Despite expanding its offerings over the years, Gemini has yet to include ADA among its supported assets. The exchange currently lists major proof-of-stake cryptocurrencies like Solana (SOL), Avalanche (AVAX), Polkadot (DOT), Cosmos (ATOM), and Tezos (XTZ), but Cardano's ADA remains absent. Gemini has not publicly addressed why ADA is not listed, though its official policy outlines factors like maturity, liquidity, and market demand in its listing criteria.
Hoskinson has been teasing Gemini about the omission for years. In December 2022, amid Gemini's struggles with crypto lender Genesis, he joked that not listing ADA seemed linked to financial troubles. Later that month, he quipped during a Twitter Spaces chat that avoiding listings on exchanges like Gemini and FTX might have been a blessing in disguise. In September 2024, he even stood near Gemini's booth holding a sign that read Wen ADA?
By 2025, Hoskinson escalated his criticism, noting that Gemini was the last major exchange without ADA trading. He estimated that the exchange had missed out on roughly $70 million in revenue over five years due to the decision, while competitors like Binance and Coinbase profited from ADA trading.
