Hoskinson Sees Clarity Act Hitting September Deadline with Regulatory Certainty
Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson is optimistic about the Clarity Act's chances of passing in September. He believes that continued crypto investment and industry discussions will help push the legislation over the line by the September 15 deadline. In a recent interview, Hoskinson stated that he has been involved in efforts to improve the bill and that it has undergone significant changes.
Hoskinson also praised SEC Chair Paul Atkins, whom he described as 'the right man for the job.' He said that Atkins sees digital assets as strategically important to the U.S. and does not approach crypto from an anti-industry perspective. Hoskinson added that Atkins views cryptocurrency as vital for the nation's growth and capable of helping 'globalise American power.'
When asked about the atmosphere around Jackson Hole, where meetings focused on the Clarity Act and the future of financial markets, Hoskinson said it was like 'the Bilderberg Group of Crypto.' He mentioned that discussions involving Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse, Binance co-founder CZ, Senator Cynthia Lummis, and Senator Tim Scott were productive and helped to boost morale.
Hoskinson has previously warned that the bear market is temporary and that another bull cycle will follow. However, he emphasized that the next cycle needs a stronger value proposition than speculation alone. If the Clarity Act passes in September, Hoskinson expects regulatory certainty to boost institutional confidence and provide a broader foundation for the next crypto cycle.
Despite his optimism, Cardano's DeFi TVL has fallen about 92% from its 2024 peak, with ADA trading around $0.20 and holding 18th place by market capitalization, valued at approximately $7.5 billion.
