Hougan Sticks by Top Cryptocurrency Picks Amid Market Shift

Bitwise Chief Investment Officer (CIO) Matt Hougan has reaffirmed his stance on the top cryptocurrencies in the market, naming Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Solana (SOL), and Chainlink (LINK) as the 'four most important names'.

Hougan, speaking on the New Era Finance Podcast, stated that these four assets still hold a significant place in a broad cryptocurrency portfolio. He noted that with new projects entering the market, his views remain unchanged.

However, Hougan did mention two potential newcomers: Hyperliquid (HYPE) and Venice, which represent the privacy and artificial intelligence themes respectively.

Hougan emphasized Chainlink's strong core protocol operations as a key factor supporting its token LINK. He also highlighted that regulatory pressure decreasing could lead to projects implementing revenue sharing, buybacks, and more efficient token economies.

Notably, Hougan described Bitcoin as 'digital gold', stating it is one of the best risk-adjusted investment vehicles in the cryptocurrency sector. He believes traditional investors are increasingly questioning their portfolios' exposure to fiat currencies, which could lead to a massive influx of capital into BTC.
