Hyperliquid Policy Center (HPC) has submitted a joint comment letter to the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) requesting approval for regulated energy perpetual contracts in the US.

The proposal aims to allow continuous trading and onchain infrastructure, enabling businesses to manage oil and gas price risk during sudden market shocks outside traditional trading hours.

According to HPC, this would help alleviate challenges faced by traders when conventional markets are closed. For instance, during the recent Middle East conflict, oil-linked perpetual contracts on Hyperliquid allowed traders to react before conventional markets reopened.
