Share

HSBC's recent 'Affluent Investor Snapshot 2026' report surveyed over 10,000 high-net-worth individuals worldwide and found that the average portfolio allocation to cryptocurrencies fell to 6% this year. This marks a decrease of one percentage point from last year.

Despite the decline in crypto holdings, nearly half of respondents (45%) plan to increase their cryptocurrency allocations over the next 12 months. In contrast, 40% expect to maintain their current levels.

The report also noted that average cash allocation among high-net-worth investors fell to 19%. Meanwhile, money leaving cash was shifting into equities, gold, and alternative assets.
