Hype Price Jumps on Hyperliquid's $10M Burn and Bloomberg Boost
Hype (HYPE) prices rose on October 5 as Hyperliquid completed another large token burn. In a 24-hour period, Hyperliquid burned 112,580 HYPE tokens, worth approximately $10.15 million.
The move was accompanied by Bloomberg Terminal adding pricing data for selected Hyperliquid perpetual markets, giving traders two separate catalysts. One reduced token supply through protocol-funded purchases, while the other expanded access to Hyperliquid market data.
The combination of the token burn and increased institutional visibility supported the Hyperliquid crypto narrative. However, it also left HYPE price sensitive to leveraged positioning, with futures activity far larger than spot turnover.
According to CoinGlass, futures volume for HYPE stood near $1.46 billion over 24 hours, while spot volume was around $91.5 million. Open interest reached approximately $3.55 billion across tracked HYPE futures markets, which can amplify moves when traders unwind crowded positions.
Hype price now faces nearby resistance around $94, followed by the $97 area. Traders will also watch whether open interest expands alongside price or begins unwinding.
