The Hyperliquid Policy Center has called on the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) to prioritize perpetual futures, a derivative product that allows traders to speculate on an underlying asset without an expiration date.

In a letter submitted ahead of the CFTC's Innovation Advisory Committee meeting on August 20, Hyperliquid argued that perpetual futures have matured beyond digital assets and are now used for equities and commodities. The group emphasized the efficiency of perpetual futures in reducing transaction costs and operational complexity for hedgers managing long-term risk.

The letter also highlighted the importance of introducing these innovations within existing legal and regulatory frameworks, without requiring new legislative authority.
