Hyperliquid Sees Surge in Real-World Asset Perpetual Futures Trading Volume

The Hyperliquid platform has seen a significant shift in its perpetual futures trading volume. According to data, between January and June, the trading volume of real-world asset (RWA) themed perpetuals increased by approximately 5.5-fold, reaching nearly $470 billion in June. This surge is attributed to contracts tracking stocks and indices.

Hyperliquid's HIP-3 markets, which allow developers to create perpetual futures markets, have become increasingly popular. By the beginning of summer, these markets accounted for nearly half of the platform's futures trading volume. TradeXYZ's contracts tracking the Nasdaq-100 and individual stocks stood out in transactions under HIP-3.

According to Haseeb Qureshi, Managing Partner at Dragonfly Capital, this transformation indicates that the sector is leaning more towards real-world assets. He noted that institutions like Goldman Sachs and BlackRock might need private blockchain environments with their own compliance rules and operational requirements.
