Hyperscale Data Ditches Bitcoin Mining for AI Powerhouse in Michigan
Hyperscale Data has stopped its Bitcoin mining operations at its Michigan data center as it prepares for AI usage. The company revealed that all Bitcoin mining activities ceased on September 1, 2026, to make way for a new AI customer's data center infrastructure.
The neocloud customer signed a lease agreement with Hyperscale Data in June 2026 and will deploy 20MW of compute capacity by the end of Q4 2026. The contract has an initial term of ten years, with two five-year extension options, valued at approximately $1.2 billion.
Hyperscale's CEO, William Horne, believes that this shift will benefit stockholders as the company's market capitalization, currently trading at a discount to other data center companies, normalizes in comparison to its contracted power capacity.
