ICE Weighs Using Avalanche for 24/7 On-Chain ATS

The New York Stock Exchange's parent company, Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), is exploring the use of Avalanche blockchain infrastructure for its in-development Alternative Trading System (ATS).

Michael Blaugrund, a representative from ICE/NYSE, stated that after reviewing multiple platforms, 'Avalanche checks a lot of those boxes' and that they are actively engaged with the team.

The ATS platform would enable 24/7 on-chain trading, which is currently not possible on traditional exchange infrastructure. Avalanche's subnet architecture is seen as a technical draw for regulated financial platforms, allowing custom blockchains to be spun up with tailored rule sets.

No formal partnership or contract has been confirmed, and the announcement of ICE building an ATS on a blockchain would allow it to offer securities trading around the clock, something traditional market infrastructure does not support.
