ICP Tumbles Amid Broader Crypto Market Pullback
Internet Computer (ICP) saw a decline of 3.23% over the past 24 hours, mirroring a broader market pullback of about 2.4%. The drop in ICP's value is largely attributed to large-scale Bitcoin long liquidations and a risk-off macro backdrop.
The heavy liquidation of Bitcoin, particularly below $84,000 on September 23, triggered around $237 million of leveraged long liquidations in a single hour. This led to a classic liquidation cascade where forced selling begets more selling across the market, especially in speculative assets.
Another analysis showed that over-leveraged longs were being forced out across major and large-cap cryptocurrencies. The 3.23% ICP move is well within the kind of drift expected when a heavily leveraged Bitcoin market gets flushed.
