IDEX Transitions to XCHAIN, Eyes Perpetual Swap Growth
IDEX, a decentralized trading platform, has undergone significant changes since its inception in 2017. Initially operating on Ethereum, it later transitioned to Polygon's v3 hybrid exchange model, which combined centralized order book matching with automated market maker liquidity pools.
Today, IDEX runs on XCHAIN, an Arbitrum Orbit-based Layer 2 focused on perpetual swaps. This shift aims to reduce gas costs for traders while providing a secure and decentralized trading environment.
The native IDEX token has a fixed total supply of one billion units, with one billion tokens in circulation, according to CoinGecko data. The token's utility includes staking, governance, and node participation. While price projections vary, some current models place the token around $0.0005 to $0.001 by the end of 2026.
IDEX's founders, Alex Wearn and Philip Wearn, secured $2.5 million in venture funding from Gnosis, G1 Ventures, Collider, and Borderless Capital. The platform processes trades through an off-chain matching engine, reducing public mempool exposure to front-running attacks while recording final settlement on-chain.
IDEX currently trades at approximately $0.00095 per token, with a market cap near $900,000 and total value locked around $43.7 million. Its current infrastructure operates on XCHAIN, its Arbitrum Orbit-based Layer 2, with the platform focused on perpetual swaps.
